Biography
Pavel Havlicek was born in Prague in 1974.  He spent his childhood in Prague, Vienna, and then in Southern California.  As a child and teenager he received art instruction from his father who is a professional artist specializing in super-realistic illustration.  Pavel then went on to study Fine Art at Otis College of Art and Design; first on a YAS (Young Artist Scholarship) while still in high school, and subsequently as a college student.  Pavel's interests and travels have taken him over much of the globe, from Africa and Asia to Australia..  The aesthetic influences seen in his art range from tribal and Byzantine, to Symbolist and Art Noveau.  His work is featured in collections from Hawaii to Europe.

Artist Statement
"I seek to harmonize the various elements within a piece given the selected parameters, (ie medium, colors, subject and dimensions).  I create my works primarily as a means of self-discovery, a way to manifest inner visions, musings, or preoccupations.  My latest works I have attempted to charge in a manner akin to icons or talismans by maintaining a specific intent and state of mind during the entire creative process so as to imbue the work with a resonance that goes beyond the visible and aesthetic aspects."
